1) Covaxin

                Covaxin has been developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International Ltd in association with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Virology (NIV).

It is included along with immune-potentiators, also known as vaccine adjuvant, which are added to the vaccine to increase and boost its immunogenicity.

It is a 2-dose vaccination regimen given 28 days apart.

It is a vaccine with no sub-zero storage, no reconstitution requirement, and ready to use liquid presentation in multi-dose vials, stable at 2-8oC.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of COVAXIN in volunteers aged 18 years and above.

2) Covishield

                Covishield has been developed by the Oxford-AstraZeneca and is being manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII). It has been prepared using the viral vector platform which is a totally different technology.

It can be stored at 2-8 degrees Centigrade, which is a household refrigerator temperature.

The effectiveness of the Covishield vaccine is nearly 90% as per the global reports and Covaxin’s 81% according to interim 3rd phase trial results.

Covishield has been allowed for restricted use in emergency situations that can potentially prevent coronavirus infection in people aged 18 years and above.

3) Sputnik V

                Sputnik-V, developed by M/s Gamaleya Institute, Russia for Emergency Use Authorization. M/s Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (M/s DRL) had applied for the grant of permission to import and market Gam-COVID-Vac combined vector vaccine.

Sputnik V is a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine using a similar platform to Covishield

Sputnik V is a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine.

The vaccine efficacy of over 91 per cent, according to a publication in scientific journal The Lancet.

In India, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories is the local distribution partner for Sputnik V.
